The decision for the construction of the 600 MW
Unit 6, which is already under way, is the next step in the ecological
rehabilitation of TEŠ, which we started in 1983 in order to protect the
environment.
Unit 6 will contribute to reducing CO2 emissions by 35% compared to
today, as well as lowering the noise level and keeping it well under the
permitted limit. Unit 6, planned to begin its preliminary running at
the end of 2014, is also guaranteed to have a noticeable effect on the
economy, since it will enable us to provide electrical energy at a lower
price than today.

TEŠ in 2014
The new unit will also make TEŠ more environmentally
friendly: in 2015, after Unit 6 begins to operate, emissions of sulphur
oxides will be reduced by 55% and nitrogen oxides by 50%, compared to
the emissions of both pollutants in 2008. Unit 6 will be constructed
using the latest technology and machinery and will meet the criteria of
all valid ecological standards.
