Due to the remote heating system in the Šaleška dolina
Valley there is a very small number of individual firing installations which
would pollute the lower, terrestrial layer of the atmosphere. Thermal energy produced in TEŠ is also
relatively inexpensive which is favourable for the residents of the
municipalities of Velenje and Šoštanj as well as the economy and social
infrastructure. The co-production of heat also improves the efficiency of the
thermal power plant since losses in the production and distribution of heat are
considerably smaller compared to the production and distribution of
electricity.
