Environmentally friendly
Decades of dedication to the environment
For decades, we at TEŠ have been devoting special attention to protecting and improving the environment in which we are located, in which we act, and which we actively co-create. We also prove our commitment to responsible environmental management with an environmental certificate ISO 14001 which is a part of an integrated management system that is composed of: quality management system following the requirements of SIST ISO 9001, environmental management system following the requirements of SIST EN ISO 14001, and occupational safety and health management systems following the requirements of ISO/IEC 27001 and OHSAS 18001.
Block 6 for lower environmental loads
Environmental load reduction
Unit 6, which was designed and constructed in accordance with international standards, significantly reduces the environmental burden at all levels. Emissions from this facility have been lowered by 3 times compared to the values emitted from decrepit and obsolete older units. Furthermore, dust concentrations emitted to the environment and noise pollution have also been reduced significantly. The state-of the-art-technology installed in Unit 6 provides for better yield, allowing us to produce the same amount of electricity by using less coal and generating CO2 emissions that are up to 30% lower than in the past.
We reduce emissions
Environmental measurements
In addition to the already mentioned Unit 6, we at TEŠ devote considerable resources to reduce SOx, NOx, dust, and noise emissions and to protect the water quality, which can be monitored by interested public through publicly available environmental measurements supported by multi-year data obtained by measurement methods and accredited standard procedures.
Environmental rehabilitated Unit 5
In 2018, we also environmentally rehabilitated block 5
In 2018, we also conducted environmental rehabilitation of Unit 5. In this context, primary measures were carried out, as well as urea dosing for additional flue gas denitrification. The latter has resulted in a decrease of NOx concentrations from 500 mg/m3 to under 175 mg/m3. We renovated the desulphurisation plant and reconstructed the sealing of GAVO heat exchanger, whereby we achieved a reduction of SO2 concentrations from 400 mg/m3 to 200 mg/m3.
In 2019, experts at TEŠ were engaged in studying how to improve stabilisation of combustion products by adding various additives, and in examining the possible use of alternative fuels.
In any case, the future goal of TEŠ continues to remain the same: to provide electricity and thermal energy with minimal environmental burden and impact on surrounding residents. Due to direct involvement in the local environment, the awareness of necessary cooperation of all stakeholders is a prerequisite for successful, reliable and safe production.
