The
technology for the production of electrical energy is precisely defined,
and is determined by the base source of energy. The use of the
technology is regulated by a technological process which prescribes the
phases of energy conversion, technical devices, and determines the
energy conversion efficiency. The reliability of operation depends on
the technical characteristics and quality of the installations and the
machinery.
Because of the wise decisions of the engineers at the time of
construction, the Šoštanj thermal plant has equipment produced by
excellent manufacturers from Germany and Switzerland. It is because of
this the operation of T.E. Šoštanj is comparable to similar European
plants in terms of production results, and we even surpass them in terms
of operational responsiveness. The results are a sign of the
outstanding maintenance and management of the production facilities.
Today T.E. Šoštanj is the largest fossil fuel power plant in Slovenia,
and it contributes 33% of the country’s electrical energy production.
